Connecting dry bean, lentil and pea growers to global consumers The Othello, Washington, dry edible bean processing plant adds value to farmers' crops by processing, packaging and delivering 10 varieties of dry edible beans as well as lentils and chickpeas to domestic and international markets. As a farmer-owned business, CHS is unique in its close connections to growers that raise beans under contract for CHS. Beans processed at the facility are either marketed directly to consumers, sold in bulk, or packaged under private labels for other food brands. Quality and food safety are prime focuses at the facility. A CHS field representative works directly with farmers from seed selection through harvest to ensure crop quality.
