Announcing the winning teams and finalists of the Great School Lunch Contest: Powered by Pulses!
In celebration of International Year of Pulses, the American Pulse Association, USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council and Bush's Best Beans sponsored a national school lunch competition for 4th-8th grades and 9th -12 grades.
The Challenge:
With a task force of 3-4 students and 1-2 teachers, develop a delicious and nutritious lunch recipe that meets the National School Meal Program requirements.
The Prize:
The top three finalist teams from the recipe competition in grades 9-12 win:
A special culinary session at the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio

CREATE
a balanced lunch recipe following the National School Lunch Program guidelines featuring beans, dry peas, lentils, or chickpeas as both a vegetable side dish and a meat alternate meal.

Congratulations to Heritage Middle School from Livingston New Jersey whose teams swept the competition by winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes in the 4th-8th grade category!
Grades 9-12

The top three schools are competing in a final cook-off competition at the School Nutrition Association's Annual Nutrition Conference and Expo:
When: Tuesday July 12 11:45-12:45.
